MTS2000 | MCS2000 Advanced System Key removal

For those who like to play around, I have traced out the offsets and data for enabling/disabling the Advanced System Key (ASK) or Advanced Conventional Key (ACK) in the codeplug dataspace.

When the ASK/ACK is enabled, one cannot write to the radio unless the ASK/ACK is connected to the programming computer. This essentially means if you're ASK/ACK'd, your radio is a doorstop.

Obviously some of you are intelligent enough to be aware of how to get around this issue (force a new s-record in, or play with Lab), but for those who want to do things the hard/technical way, here's the information:

In the MTS2000 codeplug, the ACK/ASK status is located at 0x28E.

In binary, the status is represented by the first flag, in the first bit of the byte. So if you see 1000 (on, off, off, off), it's active. Set the first flag as disabled. If the byte is E2, (1110, 0010), you would set it to 62. (0110, 0010) I hope that makes sense.

In the MCS2000 codeplug, the ACK/ASK status is located at 0x37B.

You must correct any EOL (and EOB?) checksums after changing the status of this flag.

The ASTRO Saber, XTS3000 and ASTRO Spectra CPS and codeplug structure is VERY MUCH the same. However, the offsets and data value(s) used, seem to be different. I have not successfully mapped them out yet, but the ASK/ACK flag is most likely in the radio-wide block, which is just after the second instance of the model/serial strings. If someone wants to research/post the data for that tier, it would be fantastic.

The coding team is also working on a modification to the ASTRO Portable/Mobile CPS release which will add a checkbox in the Radio Wide/Advanced tab, for the enabling/disabling of the ASK/ACK "Write Protected" flag. We just need to trace out the offset, first. This checkbox would mimic what's available in Lab/Depot CPS.
