I have MTSX LABTool R03.00.02 but I’m getting the “Codeplug Too New” error when I try to read it with the LABTool…
I am in need of a clean codeplug for a 900 MHz MCS2000 Type III
SOLUTION :::
Sometimes it's a simple as programming in the original saved codeplug. Since that didn't work for you, the other option is LAB. You will need to read the saved codeplug with MTSX LAB 3.02.00 (latest version floating around in cyberspace, I think). Yes, I said MTSX LAB, there is no known MCS2000 lab floating around, but the MTSX works fine for this. Ignore the 'codeplug too new' error, and go into the 'read/write with no pack/unpack' screen. Hit 'F8-write to radio' and your packed MCS2000 codeplug will be forced into the radio. If all goes well, your radio will be revived. If not, looks like a trip to the depot is in order.

got a copy of mtsx lab 3.02.00, did exactly what wavetar said and bingo! radios back, now it reads and writes fine with my RSS who knows what the problem was.
Glad to hear it worked for you. I figured it would, since it seemed to be an obvious case of codeplug corruption. As far as exactly what caused it, who knows? I assume you were running in a 'pure' DOS mode as opposed to a DOS window? Were you running the RIB on battery-only, or with the A/C supply as well? The pins on your programming cable show any dirt/oxidation on them? How about the pins in the mic jack of the radio? It only takes a few milliseconds of interruption during the write cycle to have it happen.
