Home Brew Motorola Based D-Star Repeater

This is my latest D-Star repeater project. This repeater is intended to stand in for the existing Icom based ID-RP4000V RF hardware at the VK5REX repeater site. I need to do some modifications & maintenance on the Icom gear and this home-brew repeater is intended keep me on the air. But who knows... if it ends up working out better than the Icom repeater, it might remain at the repeater site permanently!

DV-RPTR + AMBE Board working with a Motorola MCS2000 radio

Using the DV-RPTR board together with the AMBE vocoder board as a D-Star "front end" for a Motorola MCS2000 radio.

Once configured with the Control Center software, the DV-RPTR board can be unplugged from the host computer and will operate in standalone mode. A display can also be added to the DV-RPTR board to show incoming callsign and short message data.

Both simplex and operation through the VK5REX 70cm D-Star repeater is demonstrated. VK5REX B is currently operating with a homebrew RF deck using two Motorola MCS2000 radios.

Many thanks to Mark VK3EME who was kind enough to answer my CQ via the DCS014 B reflector.

Motorola MCS 2000 FLASHport HCN1118A Radio

I am considering adding the above mentioned radio to my monitoring arsenal, for some analog 800 freq. in our area. Found one really cheap ( under $100), but cannot find much info about it. The RadioReference Wiki has limited information and one of the links is invalid. Before I decide yes or no, I need an answer to these questions:

Is the radio programmed via Windows CPS through a USB port or is this a DOS/RIB required radio?

Any known issues with this line of radio?

MTSX Labtool R03.00.02

I have MTSX LABTool R03.00.02 but I’m getting the “Codeplug Too New” error when I try to read it with the LABTool…

I am in need of a clean codeplug for a 900 MHz MCS2000 Type III
